AND my Airport signal has also all but disappeared - only 1-3 bars most times since the work order. Why does Firefox lose the server before Safari? Why does one email account fail 30 seconds to a minute before the other? Why can I get email yet be unable to load a web page? Since the work order from my ISP my connection will sometimes fade and return within the space of a few minutes, other times it still requires unplugging or shutting off the router and the Express station. So what am I missing here? Why am I still dropping out? I tried changing Airport from DHCP to Manual (with same settings really). Do I need to start looking at viruses? Then what about my partners pc laptop? We never share disks or network beyond a shared internet connection, but he does play online games (he has a very ancient laptop by the pc company, if that says anything). I have run Disk Utility and repaired permissions. No software updates bar Safari and iTunes about 1 week before symptoms. Nothing has changed in my house - no additional plugin equipment, no furniture repositioned. Why does Firefox lose the server before Safari? Going over my router setup, my connection type is They have reduced my speed, but I am still getting dropout. I have called my ISP regarding my current flurry of dropout, suspecting they may have changed a setup, but their answer is perhaps my line speed is too high considering my proximity to the exchange and its causing instability. Switching to Bridge and having my ISP properly setup my router by remote solved that issue. I used the same setup with this new provider initially (having no other information - they were really slack - it took them almost a month to get me a new modem promised with connection) and had constant drop outs and instability. Previously I had Airport setup to to share public IP, using DHCP and NAT. I have had this problem before when I first switched ISP providers. In the past I have used AirRadar, which also showed no other networks (but they may be hidden from AirRadar). Hi Bob - unfortunately I could only use an unstable version (KisMAC trunk r239.app), but when I did manage to get it to scan I did not see any other networks. Is there a chance that my internet provider has changed something, or are my settings suddenly no longer valid for some reason? Allow this network to be extended is not checked. My Express runs in 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible) radio mode, channel automatic, wireless security WPA/WPA2 Personal. I am running Mac OSX 10.4.11 and using a Dynalink ADSL2 + 4 port modem router. Router Address and DNS server are the same I have only had software updates to iTunes and Safari a few days ago. This happens several times a day and is quite annoying. The only way I can fix this is to turn off and unplug the modem, and restart Airport Express. If I restart Express alone, it changes to amber and I get the error "your wireless device does not have a valid ip address". I use my airport express 802.11n version 7.4.2 in bridge mode to connect to my modem and provide wireless internet and network to my Powerbook G4 laptop and my partners window machine.Īfter working fine for several months, suddenly my internet connection drops (Express remains green and network availability is fine).
